Latest Swine Flu Information The recent cases of swine flu have caused some people to be a little concerned about the health of themselves and their friends and family. But is there any real reason to worry? The Scottish Government and NHS Fife are carefully monitoring the situation but at the moment there is no immediate threat to public health. The virus is not transmitted through eating pork or pork products. However as a sensible precaution, everyone should always do the following: Use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing then throw them away quickly and carefully. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way. Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures. Encourage the family to maintain good hygiene habits at all times Clean surfaces regularly (especially items that are continuously touched such as remote controls, kitchen handles and the tops of taps).
