In 1987 ‘Fife Federation of Gingerbread’ was established, and now, three decades on, Fife Gingerbread is celebrating reaching 30 years of supporting parents in Fife.
Initially starting as an affiliate to Gingerbread Scotland, the organisation ended this connection in 2002, a move which signalled the change to the name that is now synonymous with delivering support to lone parent, vulnerable and disadvantaged families; Fife Gingerbread.
To celebrate reaching 30 years we are planning lots of celebrations, the highlight of which will be the Birthday Circus Festival. Taking place in early August at Silverburn Park in Leven, the festival will be a day of fun and thrills which will see 300 of our families attend.
To mark our milestone, Jenny Gilruth MSP is hosting a Parliamentary Reception on Wednesday 6th September dedicated to the celebration and recognition of our 30 years of supporting families in Fife. A mix of parents, staff, volunteers, partners, colleagues and elected members will be in attendance at the Scottish Parliament.
Also taking place in capital, we are privileged to have received 12 invitations to the Queens Garden Party at Hollyroodhouse. Again, a mix of parents, staff and volunteers will be donning hates and fascinators and going along to represent Fife Gingerbread.
The AGM and Annual Event, taking place in November, is always an important occasion for Fife Gingerbread, and this year is no different as it will be a final opportunity to highlight the achievements of the organisation over the last 30 years, and of course look to the future.
Each of our projects will also have a whole host of activities and events taking place over the next few months to celebrate our birthday.
