Everyone at Fife Gingerbread sends our love to our families in these difficult days. The support that the local community has shown to those in need has been fantastic to see, and we want to thank everyone who has donated, helped and offered support to us and the charity sector as a whole. We were delighted to receive books, toys and nappies and we managed to donate goods earlier this year - thank you to all who contributed.
As we moved into lockdown, we were unable to visit our Gingerbread families in person, but we continue to stay in touch online and on the telephone. Our families have shown incredible resilience in these circumstances, but sadly isolation and loneliness are now new experiences for many of our parents. Our Lone Parent support line (01592 725 210) is available five days a week.
The focus of Fife Gingerbread has always been to support and empower lone parents to give their children the best start in life they can. We are enormously proud of the reliance of our families and colleagues.
We have recorded storytelling videos, shared play ideas, and offered meal planning suggestions. We’ve signposted financial support available for food and fuel costs. Our projects have made such a difference in lives across Fife for 30 years thanks to the dedication of the staff and the hard work of the parents involved in our projects and they continue to do so. It may be through letters in the post, virtual classes and groups, but we will be there for our families.
As the lockdown may move from weeks into months, please be reassured that we will be there for the long haul. As the schools and nurseries remain closed, we will look for new ways to keep families engaged and working towards brighter tomorrows.
