This week is Challenge Poverty Week. We need Fife to raise its voice against poverty, look into its causes, and see what can be done.
By working in Partnership with Fife Council, NHS Public Health Fife and Glenrothes Foodbank amongst others, we want to raise awareness of how poverty can effect families in our towns and communities, and what support is out there.
Poverty in Fife is rising. We need to be able to provide stability for families, and as a community, show support for those who find themselves struggling. Bringing up children while battling unemployment, family breakdown and isolation is hard enough, and financial hardship on top of this can make it almost unbearable.
Fife Gingerbread visited our friends at Glenrothes Foodbank and we spent some time discussing how we can provide more joined up services. Challenge Poverty Week is a great opportunity to share resources and ideas.
Our staff provide safe and happy spaces for families, provide help with household and money management and most importantly- listen and take time to work together with vulnerable parents. Sadly, the need has never been greater for our services.
Let’s all challenge poverty, educate ourselves and show kindness to others- if we all work together we can make a real difference.
