Day2Play - A Summer to Remember

‘Its just about being together, getting out the house and doing something different. You forget how lovely it is seeing your kids have fun’.

‘We were looking at a long Summer holiday in the house – my mental health was not in a good place after a difficult relationship. But with a little help and support, we made some great memories. I’m really proud of us.’

This Summer, Fife Gingerbread went outdoors. We were canoeing, hammock building, climbing trees, sand castle building, sports-day racing and marshmallow roasting!

Activities that we all enjoy with our kids, but can seem impossible to do when life seems to weigh you down. Getting out the house, organising picnics and transport can be overwhelming when things are tough. And that’s why we launched Day2Play- days out for families that need a bit of extra support, opportunities to do something fun together.

Our team organised trips to Lochore Meadows for water sports, Cambo for Birdhouse building and exploring, Falkland Estate for Hammock building and the Ecology Centre in Kinghorn for bush activities. Adventures in beautiful locations right here on our doorstep. Families were also given the opportunity to organise days out on their own- without financial struggles.

We cannot thank our supporters enough for giving our families a Summer to remember- Technip FMC, Diageo, SPAR, Stephens the Bakers, Fisher and Donaldson, Howdens Joinery (Glenrothes), Swan Dance Academy, Bitwise, Springfield Properties, Inner Wheel Dunfermline and individuals who pledged- you really have made a difference.

All children deserve a carefree, happy Summer- we’ve attached a gallery of photos with some smiley faces – definitely a Summer to Remember!
