Employer Engagement

We will work collaboratively with employers in Fife to ensure that lone parents are recruited, trained, retained and valued as part of Fife’s workforce.

Who are we?

At Fife Gingerbread we believe that lone parents are a skilled, dedicated and talented workforce. In 2021 the Joseph Rowntree Foundation highlighted that collective action is needed to enable lone parents to access “high-quality, flexible, sustainable and well-paid work” otherwise there is a risk of remaining “locked in poverty”. Our staff and volunteers engage, support and progress lone parents through our projects.

We have developed an Employer Engagement Strategy focused on building partnerships with employers in Fife to work collectively to support lone parent families to secure work that provides a healthy work, life and family balance.

What can we offer to employers?

✔ We will support employers with improving staff retention by offering bespoke support to working lone parents focused on helping them to sustain a healthy work/life balance for their family and overcome barriers to employment.

✔ We will provide direct emotional support to lone parents to improve their mental health and wellbeing which will positively impact their attendance, reliability and productivity at work.

✔ We will provide short training sessions for line managers in Fife. Helping them to understand the unique challenges that lone parents face, and identifying opportunities to improve the organisation’s employee engagement strategy.

✔  We will work collaboratively with employers to implement innovative solutions to encouraging more lone parents to join their workforce – considering flexible working, more part time roles and bespoke employability programmes. Supporting employers in Fife to recruit talented and skilled Fifers.

✔  Our support is completely free and confidential.
